Impeachment With Honor was written
by Southern California singer/songwriter Lee Cook who along with veteran
producer, Tim Coffman
produced this anti Bush-Cheney, War Protest song. Cook has written
other regional favorites such as “Battling the Bottle,” “Billboards& Snowjobs,” “Honey
It Hurts,” “Rock and Roll Man,” “Bounty Hunter,” "Coconut
Bloke”, and "Shantytown Jacksonville Rocker," a tribute
to the late
Ronnie Van Zant, of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band, among dozens of others.
He currently plays in SoCal based classic rock band, GEEZER, and in
the past played with California
bands Smokin’, C.Y.DYGYT, Wilderness, Signs of Life, Against
The Grain, Eric & the Hubcaps, and the Scatt Bros. Band. Also
appearing as Joe Grease, Cook has a long history of studio recording
and live performances.
Impeachment With Honor draws the immediate
attention of the listener with the Jimi Hendrix inspired Woodstock
rendition of our National Anthem, played by Cook’s son, 18 year
old Lee Cook IV, a sophomore at San Diego State. “Impeachment
With Honor” also features Southern California session musician
Tim Cook(no relation) who plays pedal steel, 12 and 6 string electric
guitars, trombone and accordion. Lenny Bole, formerly of Montezuma’s
Revenge, plays stunningly brilliant dobro and banjo, splitting the
2nd lead break with the younger Lee Cook, on electric lead guitar.
Singer/songwriter Charlie Imes, of Del Mar, CA, who played with Cook
Sr. in such SoCal bands as Signs of Life and Against the Grain, played
bass and acoustic guitar. Imes also worked diligently in the early
production stages of Impeachment With Honor. Drums, percussion, background
vocals and production assistance were handled brilliantly by Carmine
Gegnose(aka Guido da Hitman Rodino) of La Mesa, CA. Gegnose played
in the historic Jello’s Gas Band, and with Cook in C.Y. DYGYT,
Smokin’, and The Scatt Bros.Band. Rounding out the lineup is
Homer Pyle, former bassist for Border Angels and The Scatt Bros. Band,
who contributed background vocals and assisted Cook/Coffman with production.
Impeachment With Honor lyrically and musically reveals
the perspective of the
average, working/ middle class American family’s frustration with the arrogance
and incompetence of the Bush-Cheney Administration. In addition to Jimi Hendrix,
other key musical influences of Impeachment With Honor come
from Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Lynyrd
Skynyrd, and, of course, The Beatles.
